I have heaps of new images to show, but in re-doing my website galleries, I re-fell in love with some of my older work. I thought I would share with you some of the stories behind some of my favorite images.
This image is a favorite with folks, and myself as well. Anyone who is familar with this location in Ohio knows where exactly this is ....why? Because of the "gal" in this image -- for as long as I can remember, back into my teen years, this store (a thrift store of some kind I believe) has had a mannequin, often two, chained to a bench outside their store. She was always dressed up differently when I drove past - someone must have a lot of time on their hands! But in essence, it is smart marketing ...after all, people know the store just by this image because of it!
I dressed my son in this outfit, I wanted to give him a bit of a "grown up" feel ...with style. Left the tie loose and put on one of my favorite hats I found (a garage sale gem). I had my 85mm on my F100 (ah, film) and those of you who shoot with that lens know it does not leave much room ....I was right near the road when I shot this image and cars were honking at me and even one guy was kind enough to yell out "hey camera honey!" - oh the things we do for a good image. You can even see a bit of my blue shirt in the window behind his left shoulder.
I had to shoot this shot in just the right way because the mannequin's dress was so short you could see her neon green undies (???) -- and my son was actually afraid of her. But, I started to talk to him about her and asked her to blow her a kiss and the rest is history!
